Letter from the Principal’s Desk End of 1st Semester

With the closing of the first semester, we look forward with anticipation to the upcoming second semester. The first semester was filled with many accolades of accomplishments related to academic and student sponsored activities. I, as well as, the teachers and support personnel at Stewart Heights Elementary School will continue to meet the demand of the highest standards of performance for every child. We are committed to excellence and we will continue to nourish our commitment and dedication to the task at hand; our children.

It is our desire to provide the best learning environment for all students; we will continue to effectively gather data to make decisions for best teaching practices and strategies. As we gather data from the first semester based on assessments, the staff at Stewart Heights Elementary School will begin providing additional support and assistance for those students struggling in academics.

Please review your child’s report card. If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card please schedule an appointment with their teacher. We are also sending home for your review a copy of your child’s last MAP assessment scores. MAP (measures of academic progress) is an assessment that your child takes three times a year and dictates their placement for the following school year. The teaching staff will be using the data to guide their instruction. Our goal is for the scores of all students to be grade appropriate. Please compare your child’s score to that provided to see if they are on their way to a grade appropriate score. The score noted is the score that your child must have by the next testing window. The next testing window will begin March 11, 2019. Please help us prepare your child to achieve this goal.

I look forward to a very successful 2019 second semester and encourage all parents to become actively involved with your child’s academic progress at Stewart Heights Elementary School.

    Thank you for your support,

    Dr. Wendy C. Pace
