From the Principal’s Desk

Spring is our reminder that we are now in the final stretch of the 2017-18 school year. Our third nine week grading period has ended and report cards went home on March 27th. The students will be going on their “Straight A” trip to Medieval Times at Myrtle Beach on April 20th. Thank you for your continuous support so that our students can enjoy these awesome trips!

We are beginning the fourth nine weeks and it is important that we stay on task during this time, especially for students who are struggling academically. Parent conferences are being held to discuss student progress and possible retentions. Please continue to work with your children at home and encourage them to stay focused.

In the month of April, the third grade students will take the state assessment SCREADY. It is crucial that the students perform their best on all of these tests. The testing window for the assessments will be April 24th, 25th, and 26th. All third grade students will have to take the assessments on all of these dates. If you have questions or would like additional information about the upcoming tests, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the main office.

As parents, we asking that you do the following to ensure our students highest achievement for the tests:

  • Make sure your child completes all homework assignments and review class work daily. The weekly parent letters will provide detailed information regarding the content of instruction for each week.
  • Make sure your child is present and arrives on time to school each morning.
  • Make sure your child gets an appropriate amount of sleep in the days leading up to and during testing.

Thank you for your support in helping the students at Stewart Heights Elementary continue to be successful!

Dr. Wendy C. Pace, Principal

Good Character Award of the Week:Character Award

Here at Stewart Heights we know that character is how you act when no one is looking and these cats are the perfect examples of that. We not only teach your children academic knowledge to make them successful, we want them to learn how to show good character. Believe me they never disappoint. May's character trait is determination. Have your child tell you what determination means to them.
