CCLC 21st Century, PTO, Title I Annual Meeting

October 11, 2021

The 2021-2022 school year has gotten off to a great start and we are looking forward to a successful year with increased parent participation in Stewart Heights’ P.T.O.  Due to school shutdown, we have rescheduled our first Title I , CCLC 21st Century, P.T.O. Open House and Title I Annual Parenting Meeting for October 21, 2021.  Doors will open at 4:30.  Parents are asked to enter the building at the main office, pick up a packet and proceed to their child’s classroom(s). Masks will be available.  The meeting will begin in the classrooms at 5:00.  Following the meeting in the classrooms, parents will be dismissed from the cafeteria wing where hot dogs and chips will be provided to go.

P.T.O. membership will remain $1.00 for each adult joining the organization.  Dues and money raised by fundraisers go to prizes, special rewards, PBIS celebrations, supplies and trips for our students as well as school projects.  You may pay your yearly dues at the meeting or send it to your child’s teacher with the slip below.  If you have sent dues in already, thank you very much!

We will be discussing some fundraising projects for the fall, school programs, and parent materials for home use.  We will have free informational packets for all parents and free book sets while they last.  Also, we will have free hotdogs with chili and chips to go!

We are looking forward to seeing you Thursday, Octoberber 21, 2021 at 4:30 p. m.  The meeting will conclude by 6:00 p.m.  Please join us!

Door prizes will be chosen from members of PTO.  PTO Memberships may be purchased at this time or may be paid at the meeting.

Dr. Wendy S. Cook, Principal

Parents and Community Members,

I hope this first nine weeks of school is finding your family well. As principal, I would like to provide you an update on how wonderful our school year has been thus far. Our first priority is always a safe learning environment. Student achievement is our next major goal here at SHES. As you may know, the state of South Carolina has adopted the standards, South Carolina College and Career Ready (SCCCR), again for this school year in Math and ELA. Our teaching staff has undergone extensive training sessions in order to prepare our students.

The SCCCR standards are a very rigorous program that is expected to raise student knowledge while closing the achievement gap. In our classrooms, you will find that hands on learning and group tasks are common. Students are journaling daily and conferencing with their teachers.

In an effort to ensure that all students are safe and successful, we are asking for parents / guardians to help us do the following: wear masks daily, assist with homework, read with your child daily, have your child in school if they are not sick, and refrain from checking students out unless it is an emergency. Student attendance is essential for academic success.

Thank you for your continued support,

Dr. Wendy S. Cook
