What is eLearning?

A good way to think about e-learning is the use of electronic devices (computers, tablets, or phones) to deliver educational content to students.

E-learning, also referred to as online learning, electronic learning or virtual instruction, is teaching students through electronic technologies and media. In simple language, e-learning is defined as “learning that is enabled electronically”. Typically, e-learning is conducted on the Internet, where students can access their learning materials online at any place and time. While teaching can be based in or out of the classrooms, the use of computers and the Internet forms the major component of E-learning.

E-learning in a traditional setting may include tablets, computers, software and presentations. These types of media can provide students with content that is more dynamic and engaging than textbooks and a whiteboard.. A documentary film, for example, may be both engaging and informative.
