Media Center Information
The mission of the Dillon High School Media Center is to encourage the quest for knowledge and to promote the joy of reading. This is done by providing free access to a variety of materials that meet both the educational and recreational needs of Dillon High School students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Hours
M-F from 7:40 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Students must have a pass from a teacher to use the Library during regular school hours; no passes are required during students' lunch periods. Teachers requesting library time with their classes are to sign-up with the media specialist

For Students: Upon arriving to the media center, please sign in using LibaryTrac Student Kiosk located beside Mrs. Richardson's desk.
LibraryTrac Sign in Procedures:
ARRIVAL:
1. Choose Name not Barcode
2. Input your First and Last Name.
3. Input Teacher's Name.
4. Click In Button.
LEAVING:
1. Find your name
2. Click Out Button.

Checkout
1. Go to Mackinvision (see app in ClassLink)
2. Choose your book. (Electronic ) E-books are available for checkout and can be read immediately.
3. Place book on hold if you like. Ms. Wade : [email protected]
4. The library staff will pull the book(s) from the shelf.
5. Or just come by the media center and check out the book.
Returning Library Books
7. Students may return their library book(s) to the library. Place the books in the book drop.
8. Returned book(s) will be placed in quarantine for three days.
Students may not have more than two books out at any time.
Length of circulation period is 3 weeks. Number of books : 2
Periodicals and reference materials are to be used in the media center.
Lost or damaged books will be charged to the student.
Computers
There are computers available for individual student use in the library media center. Students must have an Acceptable Use policy (AUP) on file before accessing the internet. Printing is available. All computer use and printing must be educational and work-related purposes by students and employees.
Copyright
Students and staff are reminded to comply with all copyright laws when preparing presentations, projects, or lessons.
ReadingnQuiz
All students are strongly encouraged to participate in the ReadingnQuiz Program each year. Find ReadingnQuiz in Single Sign-On. Check to see if your book is a ReadingnQuiz book. The top two students will be recognized at the end of the nine weeks and the top student with the highest points will receive an overall price at the end of the year.
South Carolina Book Award Program
Students are encouraged to read South Carolina Book Award Nominees. Each student who reads three or more throughout the year has the opportunity to vote for his/her favorite in early February and receives an award at the annual awards ceremony in May. Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to read from the Young Adult list, while students in grades 6-8 may find the Junior Book Award titles more enjoyable. Reading Promotions
Reading is important for students and their achievements. Students have many options for entertainment, but it is equally important that they spend time reading for pleasure. Reading is free, fun, and can be done anywhere. Reading promotes better test scores and individual success in the work force. In addition, it is a great chance to learn the possibilities that exist inside the library and within the covers of books.
