What is Title I?
Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act provides financial assistance to state and local educational agencies to meet the needs of educationally deprived, at-risk children. The goal of Title I is to provide instructional services and activities to meet the needs of disadvantaged children identified as failing or most at risk of failing the state’s challenging performance standards.
The purpose of Title I is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education, and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on state academic achievement standards.
Parent Involvement
Parent and Family Engagement is extremely important. A strong connection between parents, families, and the schools is a key element for student success. Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires school districts to support parent and family engagement. The Title I funds are used for, but no limited to, workshops, trainings, and opportunities for active parent and family participation.
