Dillon County Adult and Continuing Education Available Programs:
High School Diploma
The high school diploma program is a self-paced program. An adult must earn 24 units to qualify for a high school diploma. Previously earned units will transfer to adult education and count toward the 24 units needed for graduation. Students may attend classes 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday at the Adult Education Office for Virtual SC courses.
General Education Development (GED)
The General Education Development (GED) program provides an opportunity for adults who have not completed the requirements for a high school diploma to obtain a high school credential. The General Education Development (GED) test is nationally recognized and covers competencies in reading, math, science, social studies, and writing. General Education Development (GED) Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Adult Education Office in Dillon.
Basic Education
Classes in basic education provide instruction in reading, writing, math, and life skills. This program is designed for adults who left the school system early. Classes are held Wednesday and Thursday at Dillon High School from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Literacy/Adult Reading Program
Free program - materials are furnished with one on one tutoring in reading and math for adults.
WORKKEYS
Testing and classes are offered for those wishing to acquire WORKKEYS certification with employability being the ultimate goal. Registration is done at the Adult Education Office.
